Pre-Primary Room 4
January 2026
Happy New Year and welcome back to school!
January has been an exciting month as we kicked off the year with a focus on winter and the European continent. The children have been busy learning about snow, ice, and the fascinating animals that thrive in cold climates, including how some animals hibernate during the winter season. Our book of the month was The Mitten by Jan Brett, and the children loved listening to this cozy winter story. We also read a book about the civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., helping the children learn about kindness, fairness, and respect for others.
In addition, we explored European landmarks and animals, giving the children a chance to learn about different places around the world. The children also enjoyed hands-on, creative activities, including making snowflakes, which helped bring our winter theme to life in a fun and meaningful way. We are continuing to focus on letter sounds and number recognition, helping the children learn that they can find objects around the classroom that match different letter sounds. This hands-on approach makes learning fun and meaningful.
Thank you for trusting us with the care and education of your children.
December 2025
December was a wonderful and enrichment month in our class. Introducing the book “The Giving Tree”, and discussing the importance of caring for nature. It was such a meaningful way to start the holiday season. Our students enjoyed making holiday crafts.
Our class had the joy of performing at the winter program, where the children sang two festive songs: Five Little Elves and Santa Claus is Coming to Town. It was a heartwarming experience that truly showcase their enthusiasm! This month we’re also focusing on the sound letters V, W,X,Y and Z. The children have been actively exploring words and objects that begin with this letter sounds and we are continuing to practice recognizing their first letter of their names and the corresponding sounds.
We want to extend our heartfelt thanks to all our classroom parents for all the support you have given us. We wish you all a very Happy Holidays.
November 2025
In November, our class focused on virtues and values, aligning perfectly with our book of the month, To Fill a Bucket. This heartwarming story emphasizes the importance of showing kindness and how every person is valued when they fill others’ “Buckets “. In circle time, we read the book together and discussed the significance of being a bucket filler. The children shared that hugs are a wonderful way to fill someone’s bucket with kindness. Additionally, we learned the sounds of letters M, A, T, and S. The children have been exploring objects and words that begin with these letters, deepening their understanding of phonics. The children have been practicing routines and taking on jobs across all areas of learning, including Practical Life, Sensorial, Math, Language and Geography.
Before the month ended, we took time to reflect on the things we are grateful for. Unsurprisingly, family and friends, especially mommy, daddy, and our classroom companions, topped the list. We also want to extend a heartfelt thank you for your generous support and participation in our harvest feast. We are truly grateful to each of you.
October 2025
October was a wonderful and enriching month in our class! We enjoyed exploring the beautiful fall season through the book We’re Going on a Leaf Hunt by Steve Metzger. In phonics, we continued to strengthen our letter-sound recognition and introduced the sounds of e, f, g, and h. The children also worked on recognizing numbers and quantities from 1 to 10 through hands-on activities. This month, we discussed the North American continent, learning about some of its landmarks such as the White House—its location and who lives there.
In Botany, we explored the roots of plants, trees, and flowers, and studied the life cycle of a pumpkin. The children especially enjoyed cutting open a pumpkin, feeling its texture, and examining the seeds inside. We would like to thank all our classroom parents for participating in our costume parade and for providing such wonderful treats for our harvest festivities. Your support and involvement help make our classroom a warm and joyful community!
September 2025
We are off to an amazing start for the 2025–2026 school year! Room 4 was excited to welcome both our new and returning students, and we are truly grateful to have your children in our class. My team—Ms. Saima, Ms. Lauren, and Ms. Shemani—are here to support your child’s learning and individual needs throughout the year.
In September, our class explored the theme of family, creating family trees that brought comfort and joy as the children shared about their loved ones. We also worked on self-portraits, cared for plants, and studied the parts of a frog. In literature, we enjoyed The Kissing Hand by Audrey Penn, while in phonics, we focused on the lowercase sounds of a, b, c, and d. In math, our lessons centered on number recognition and quantities from 1–10, and in art, we discovered the beauty of primary colors—red, yellow, and blue.
Thank you for your continued support and for helping each day begin with such positiveness during drop-off. We look forward to an exciting year of growth and learning together!
Summer 2025
What an incredible summer we had! We kicked off the season with lots of water fun—splashing in water play and zooming down water slides, which the kids especially loved during those hot summer days.
Throughout the weeks, we explored so many exciting themes: Community helper, Circus, STEM, Spirit week, Bugs and insects, and finally, our End of summer celebration (field day). One of the highlights was a visit from the fire department, where the firefighters shared their important work and showed us how they help keep our community safe. We were also lucky to have some of our own parents join us. Like a dentist who explained how they help us care for our teeth, and a mom who showed us how to plant and take care of greenery. A big thank you to everyone who participated and helped make this summer such a memorable and meaningful experience.
As summer comes to an end, we would like to say goodbye to the children moving up within our school, as well as to those who are beginning a new journey elsewhere. At the same time, we are excited to warmly welcome all the children who are transferring or newly enrolling this coming year. We look forward to having your children in our classroom for the 2025–2026 school year!
